Our Controlled Drug Total Destruction Kit contains DrugshelPLUS™ within a water soluble sachet to ensure the ingredients remain active until required. Once the jar has been filled to capacity with waste medication and the water is added DrugshelPLUS™ is released and can begin to work on the waste medication and become a semi-solid gel.
DrugshelPLUS™ is coloured to deter an individual from ingesting the contents. In addition to the colour DrugshelPLUS™ also contains an oxidising agent. Oxidising agent are used for breaking down chemical bonds to break the structure of the waste medication.
Our new Controlled Drug Total Destruction Kit contains activated carbon to absorb the constituent parts of the waste medication added to the kit rendering them useless. In order to ensure activated carbons efficacy its exposure to air must be limited. This is because activated carbon is microporous and will absorb airborne particles until it is full and can’t absorb anything else. Drug destruction powders which contain loose activated carbon within the powder will work less efficiently as the activated carbon is more likely to be full before the drugs are added to the kit. The activated carbon within our new Controlled Drug Total Destruction Kit has not been exposed to air as it is contained within a water soluble sachet and is only released once water is added.
Instructions
1. Remove lid. Do not remove the DrugshelPLUS™  sachets.
2. Add medication no more than half full.
3. Fill to capacity with water. Replace lid securely.
4. Shake thoroughly for 30 seconds, DrugshelPLUS™ has now been activated. Dispose of via authorised waste contractor (incineration). Complies with the Misuse of Drugs Regulations (1989) amended.
