Eco Friendly CD Kit

The eco friendly kit is a controlled drug disposal pouch rather than a rigid jar, made for organisations that have committed to cutting single use plastic and want their controlled drug waste to reflect that. It holds 1 litre and uses around 30 per cent less plastic than a jar of comparable capacity. Because it ships flat and stacks flat, a delivery takes up far less room in the van and in your stockroom, which lowers both storage cost and the carbon attached to getting it to you.

It denatures exactly as our jars do. Pull apart the safety closure, stand the pouch upright by pushing down its base, and leave the inner Drugshel™ sachet where it is. Add medication to the marked line, add water to the second marked line, press the closure firmly shut and shake for thirty seconds. Drugshel™ encapsulates the medication in a blue gel that is bitter tasting and unpleasant smelling, so nobody is tempted to open it, and the closure is not designed to be reopened. Disposal is by an authorised waste contractor, for incineration.

An online controlled drug register is available alongside the pouches, and each pouch can carry a unique individual code where traceability is required. It tends to be the choice of NHS trusts and pharmacy groups with a sustainability target to report against.
