Mercury Spillage Products

A mercury spill releases vapour immediately, and the hazard is inhalation rather than contact. Elemental mercury also beads and rolls, so it travels into gaps in the floor and under equipment while the room is still being cleared. This range covers the three things a dental practice, laboratory or hospital estates team needs to hand in order to deal with one properly, and it is more than powder alone despite the page address.

Start with the Mercury Vapour Suppressant Spray, a first response applied straight over the spill to stop vapour escaping into the room while you fetch the rest of the kit. Recover the visible mercury with a brush and scoop into the Mercury Waste Storage Container, a rigid, opaque, UN3291 approved 1 litre jar. Then sprinkle Mercury Spillage Powder over the affected area to pick up what the scoop cannot reach, and sweep that into the same container. The powder is for hard surfaces only. Wear gloves, goggles and a mask throughout.

All three products carry Mercshel™, our mercury vapour suppressant, which binds particles too small for the naked eye and stops them becoming airborne. The spillage powder comes in 1 litre for a spill cabinet or surgery drawer, and 5 litre where larger quantities of mercury are handled, such as a laboratory or a practice still removing amalgam routinely.
