Germicidal Powder and Deodoriser
Waste bins and sanitary units develop an odour because bacteria are breeding in what is already inside them. Masking that with fragrance lasts until the next time the lid opens. This powder is a germicide first and a deodoriser second: a lid full sprinkled into the bin kills the bacteria producing the smell, and the freshening follows from that.
It is used by cleaning and facilities teams in washrooms and sluice rooms, by care homes on commodes and continence waste, and anywhere bins stand between collections in a warm room. The routine is simple enough to hand to housekeeping staff without special training, which is usually the deciding factor when a practice manager or facilities lead is weighing this up against a liquid treatment.
PPE must be worn before use. The powder is toxic if inhaled or ingested, so it belongs in a locked or supervised cleaning store rather than an open cupboard, and it should not be decanted into unlabelled containers. Two sizes are stocked. The 1 litre tub suits a single site or a cleaner’s trolley, carried between rooms and refilled from stores. The 5 litre tub is for a facilities team servicing several washrooms, or a care home treating a number of bins daily, where buying the smaller tub repeatedly stops making sense.
